Baseball Recap: Caldwell Victorious

Caldwell won the last time they faced Barringer and things went their way on Monday too. The Chiefs walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Blue Bears. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chiefs.

Chris Lista tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marco Sozio, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Chris DePrenda, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Caldwell's record is now 11-7. As for Barringer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-14.

Coming up, Caldwell will venture away from home to square off against Verona at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Barringer, they will host Nutley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
