Football Recap: Evangel Christian Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Evangel Christian walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 64-49 win over the East Central HomeSchool Patriots on Friday. The Lightning's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Eli Black continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 281 yards and six TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110.7 rushing yards per game. Evangel Christian's leading receiver Ben Davis was Black's top target yet again, picking up 49 receiving yards and two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Evangel Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Evangel Christian's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Jackson Lowden was especially locked on to East Central HomeSchool's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Patriots' side was Max Watson, who forced one fumble and made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

The victory (which was Evangel Christian's seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.1 points over those games. As for East Central HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

As of now, neither Evangel Christian nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
