Football Recap: Nacogdoches Dragons vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers
Despite a strong season so far, Nacogdoches has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were dealt a 48-21 loss at the hands of the Mt. Pleasant Tigers on Friday. The Dragons lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 57-7 score last time.
Despite the loss, Nacogdoches still got an impressive performance from Rj Whitaker, who picked up 93 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in two rushing scores. Whitaker got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 80 yards. Nacogdoches also got help from Micah Lockett, who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Nacogdoches' defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. In that department, Braylon Horton was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 19. Nacogdoches got some further help from Landon Sherrard: he made 21 total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Nacogdoches' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Mt. Pleasant, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
