Football Recap: Norwalk Takes a Loss

Norwalk fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Ludlowe on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Falcons were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 35-34 defeat. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Norwalk lost, don't look at Easton Pace. Despite the final result, he rushed for 178 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 138 yards and three TDs. Pace's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Norwalk's leading receiver Kevin Gordon was Pace's top target yet again, picking up 106 receiving yards and three scores.

Ludlowe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Love, who threw for 235 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 73 yards on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was Liam Bond, who gained 97 total yards and two touchdowns.

Norwalk now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Ludlowe, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. After each having a week off, Norwalk and Westhill will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 2:00 p.m. on the 25th. The Bears will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ludlowe, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
