Baseball Recap: Oak Harbor Drops Season-High Score on Rossford

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Harbor). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rossford Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Brennan Butzin made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Butzin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Schultz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Oak Harbor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oak Harbor's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Rossford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.

Coincidentally, Oak Harbor and Rossford will both be playing Eastwood the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Rockets will host them at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
