Greenfield-Central is 9-1 against Yorktown since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Greenfield-Central Cougars take on the Yorktown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Greenfield-Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Yorktown likes a good challenge.

Greenfield-Central is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lawrence North just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. The game between them and the Wildcats didn't end well, with Greenfield-Central falling 77-59. The loss was the Cougars' first of the season.

Despite the defeat, Greenfield-Central got top-tier performance from Braylon Mullins, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and ten boards. That was a full 61% of Greenfield-Central's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Johnson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Yorktown was beaten by Guerin Catholic 64-34 on Saturday. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Yorktown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mason Trammell had 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Yorktown and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Greenfield-Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Greenfield-Central beat Yorktown 54-46 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenfield-Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
