Softball Game Preview: Ragsdale Tigers vs. Southeast Guilford Falcons

Ragsdale is 0-8 against Southeast Guilford since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Ragsdale Tigers will square off against the Southeast Guilford Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Ragsdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season.

While Ragsdale didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Page 17-7 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly ten runs.

Ragsdale let Alexis Gray and Claire Souther run wild. Gray scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Souther went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Gray is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Morgan Osborne was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Ragsdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Southeast Guilford took on Northern Guilford on Friday. Southeast Guilford walked away with an 11-7 win over Northern Guilford. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.

Ragsdale pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.8 runs over those games. As for Southeast Guilford, their record now sits at 3-1.

Ragsdale suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Southeast Guilford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Ragsdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
