Ansonia is a perfect 5-0 against Twin Valley South since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out to take on the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Ansonia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Ansonia duked it out with New Bremen on Monday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 12-2 win.
Addie Geyer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Ansonia got a massive performance out of Lillian Kaiser, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Avalyn Locke also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Ansonia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Twin Valley South posted their closest victory since April 15, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 win over Oakwood.
Lexi Thompson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paityn Cross, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
The victory got Ansonia back to even at 4-4. As for Twin Valley South, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ansonia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Twin Valley South struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ansonia took their win against Twin Valley South when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
