Football Recap: Oviedo Finds Playoff Glory Versus Matanzas

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oviedo had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Matanzas Pirates 25-0. Give the Lions' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Oviedo's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was KIARA HERNANDEZ with four sacks. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season.

Oviedo's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Matanzas, they moved to 10-6 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Oviedo will take on Lake Howell at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Silverhawks' defense has only allowed 5.3 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them. Matanzas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
