Basketball Recap: Howard Comes Up Short

Howard was the 73-54 winner over Wilde Lake when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Howard Lions took an 86-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilde Lake Wildecats on Friday.

Despite the loss, Howard still got an impressive performance from Josh Ademiju, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Those 20 points gave Ademiju a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joe Hill, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 18 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Howard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Wilde Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dre Hoskins, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Hoskins' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Devin Wingfield was another key player, going 9-for-19 en route to 24 points and five assists.

Howard's record now sits at 13-6. As for Wilde Lake, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Howard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-60 win against Centennial on the 19th. As for Wilde Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-55 victory against Atholton on the 18th.
