Softball Recap: Mishawaka Marian Takes a Loss

Mishawaka Marian extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Living Water Homeschool Marlins. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Marlins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Mishawaka Marian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Weber, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Weber has hit this season.

As for Living Water Homeschool, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Living Water Homeschool's side, Elena Robertson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Robertson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Living Water Homeschool let Halle Carpenter and Nora Levy run wild. Carpenter got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Levy got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Caraline Rice was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Coming up, Mishawaka Marian will take on South Bend Riley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Living Water Homeschool, they will face off against Brandywine at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
