Softball Recap: Ludlowe's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Ludlowe dropped their record down to 3-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 3-0 to the Danbury Hatters. The match marked the first time this year in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

Angie Tavella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

As for Danbury, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly three runs.

On Danbury's side, not much got past Abigail O'Dell, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Ludlowe off the board.

On the hitting side, Danbury's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacqueline Marks, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ludlowe will challenge New Canaan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 2.7, the Rams 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Danbury, they will take on Westhill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hatters are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
