Baseball Game Preview: IMG Academy Gray Ascenders vs. Badin Rams

The IMG Academy Gray Ascenders will face off against the Badin Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

IMG Academy Gray blew Lakeland out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Lakeland got their revenge. The Ascenders fell just short of the Dreadnaughts by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Ascenders have suffered since March 1st.

Cameron Donahue was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Yonghoon Lee, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Badin, as they earned their first away win of the season. They had just enough and edged out Tampa Catholic 4-3 on Thursday.

James Brink was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Badin lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

IMG Academy Gray's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Badin, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Badin's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. IMG Academy Gray has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Badin, though, as they've been averaging only 2 strikeouts. Will IMG Academy Gray keep running through batters, or will the Rams buck the trend?
