B District 2 (8 Man) recap Oct. 9, 2012
Alex's REESE MITCHELL rumbled for the longest rushing play in B District 2 (8 Man) this season in his game against Allen last week. MITCHELL's team bested the Mustangs as he sprinted for 97 yards on the play and finished with 172 in all.
Fox extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Paoli, 70-24. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Cyril's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Allen Redden threw for 99 and one touchdown and Hunter Downs had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Downs chipped in 264 yards. Sean Lowery helped Cyril's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
5-foot-8 quarterback Conner Johnson of Allen is the league leader in passing yards this season with 717. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Pirates' Downs has rushed for 942 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Downs. The Cyril star has 17 catches for 380 yards.
The top two teams in B District 2 (8 Man) will face off this week when first place Fox takes on second place Central. Last week, Fox defeated the Pugs, while Central beat Geary.
Downs of the Cyril is only 58 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Bronchos take on Brent Phelps' team. Central's offense has racked up 317 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Foxes have allowed only 76 on the year.
Waurika took down Macomb 62-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
