Football Preview: Edgewood Rams vs. Patterson Clippers

The Edgewood Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patterson Clippers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edgewood is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Last Thursday, Edgewood made easy work of North Harford and carried off a 48-23 victory. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Hawks are ranked 180th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edgewood had a senior duo take command as Jayden Harvin rushed for 101 yards and two TDs on only six carries and Kyion Greenwood rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown. Greenwood really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run.

Edgewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 327 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Edgewood, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Shamari Whitmore, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Patterson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Dunbar and fell 34-3.

Edgewood's record is now 9-0. As for Patterson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything went Edgewood's way against Patterson in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Edgewood made off with a 41-16 win. In that matchup, the Rams amassed a halftime lead of 27-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
