Football Recap: Danville Falls to Bloomsburg in First Game of Season

Danville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 30-10 to the Bloomsburg Panthers on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Ironmen came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Panthers are ranked 322nd).

Even if they lost, Danville's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Lliam Hagerman was especially locked on to Bloomsburg's QB and sacked him twice.

Bloomsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wyatt Brosious, who threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 62 yards. What's more, Brosious racked up 147.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. A healthy portion of Brosious' aerial production (120 yards to be exact) went to Jack Katulis, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Looking ahead, Danville will challenge Mifflinburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Ironmen their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Bloomsburg, they will square off against Central Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
