Recap: Westwood Warriors vs. Mesa Jackrabbits

The Westwood Warriors suffered their biggest defeat since December 18, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-34 loss at the hands of Mesa. Westwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mesa apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Amya Bekele continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mesa, scoring 27 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bekele has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anaya Packer, who scored 12 points along with two steals.

Westwood has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Mesa, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-9.

Westwood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Red Mountain is on a three-game streak of home wins, Westwood a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Mesa will take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
