Basketball Recap: Harleton Wildcats vs. Hawkins Hawks
After flying high against Hughes Springs last Tuesday, Harleton came back down to earth. The Harleton Wildcats were beaten by the Hawkins Hawks 75-44 on Friday. The Wildcats were probably out for revenge after losing 75-35 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
It was another big night for Brayden Givens, who went 10 of 15 en route to 23 points along with six steals and five boards for Hawkins. The match was Givens' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derein Hollman, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points.
Harleton dropped their record down to 5-18 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Hawkins, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harleton will challenge Christian Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hawkins, they will square off against Big Sandy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hawkins is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.
