Basketball Game Preview: North Beach Hyaks vs. Ilwaco Fishermen

North Beach hasn't had much luck against Ilwaco recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The North Beach Hyaks will challenge the Ilwaco Fishermen at 7:00 p.m. North Beach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

North Beach came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Chief Leschi by a score of 60-57 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hyaks have suffered since January 31, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ilwaco took a blow against Forks on Wednesday, falling 63-34. While losing is never fun, the Fishermen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Spartans are ranked 119th).

North Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Ilwaco, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

North Beach was dealt a bruising 70-36 loss at the hands of Ilwaco in their previous matchup on January 7th. Can North Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
