Softball Recap: Alva Wins Going Away Against Holdenville

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Alva walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Holdenville Wolverines on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Considering the Goldbugs have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Parker Grimsley and Trinity Stevens made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Grimsley tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Stevens struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Grimsley has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Grimsley went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Stevens went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylen Woods, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Blackledge, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Alva has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Holdenville, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Looking ahead, Alva will challenge Jones at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Holdenville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
