Football Recap: Matoaca Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Matoaca kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Hermitage Panthers, falling 38-0.

Despite the loss, Matoaca still got an impressive performance from Kush Phillip-El, who rushed for 81 yards on only five carries. Phillip-El got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 53 yards.

Hermitage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Breon Bonner led the charge by rushing for 55 yards and one TD.

Looking ahead, Matoaca will take on Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Hermitage, they will square off against Henrico at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
