Softball Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

Butler was the 17-6 winner over South Mecklenburg when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Butler Bulldogs fell just short of the South Mecklenburg Sabres by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.

Malea Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Bowar, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for South Mecklenburg, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Butler is taking a road trip to take on Cuthbertson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Mecklenburg, they will take on Marvin Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
