Recap: Lawrence County Cougars vs. Columbia Wildcats
The Lawrence County Cougars lost against the Columbia Wildcats back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lawrence County was dealt a 41-14 loss at the hands of Columbia. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lawrence County in their matchups with Columbia: they've now lost five in a row.
Kannon Cato and Ahmad Hardy certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cato rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns, while Hardy rushed for 117 yards. Hardy hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Lawrence County's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Columbia, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Lawrence County will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Forrest County Agricultural at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Forrest County Agricultural is ranked 96th, while Lawrence County is ranked 87th). As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to face off against Purvis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
