Basketball Recap: Jennings County Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jennings County had no problem doing just that on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 victory over the Batesville Bulldogs. 55 seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Jennings County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Etta Young out in front who went 8 for 11 en route to 17 points along with five boards and three steals. Young has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Mollie Ernstes was another key player, putting up 19 points in addition to six steals and three blocks.

Jennings County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Jennings County and bumps their season record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Batesville, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.

Jennings County has already played their next matchup, a 60-50 defeat against Greensburg on the 8th. Batesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
