Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Panthers vs. Harmony Longhorns

The Gateway Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Harmony Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Freedom hit Gateway with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 13-3 to the Patriots. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Gateway saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alan Guerrero, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Harmony came up short against The First Academy on Tuesday and fell 6-1.

Harmony also got a good showing from Jaxon Kraubetz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Harmony's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gateway, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gateway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Harmony struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Gateway might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Harmony in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
