League recap: Pacheco throws longest pass in league this season for Del Norte

Preston Pacheco and Austin McDonald provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Meeker. The connection was good for 85 yards, the longest such play in 1A Southern Peaks this season.

Del Norte moved up to 133 from 163 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating the Cowboys 36-22.

Shadron Wenta was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 146 yards on 20 carries as Monte Vista fell to Hotchkiss. Teammate Hansel Garcia added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.

Pacheco put up the best numbers through the air as Del Norte defeated Meeker. He finished with a total of nine completions for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Pacheco's favorite target this week was McDonald, who caught one pass for 85 yards.

Cooper was the best wideout in 1A Southern Peaks this week as the Pirates fell to the Bulldogs. Cooper racked up two receptions for 109 yards.

On the ground, Monte Vista's Wenta has rushed for 538 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Cooper. The Monte Vista star has six catches for 200 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Greg Jones's team takes on Ignacio. At the moment, the Pirates are in first, while the Bobcats are in fourth.

Centauri took down Lake County 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. KC Jarvies threw for 62 yards and one touchdown and ran for 20 yards in the win.
