Basketball Game Preview: Ash Fork Spartans vs. Seligman Antelopes

Ash Fork has gone 8-2 against Seligman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ash Fork Spartans will face off against the Seligman Antelopes at 3:00 p.m. Ash Fork will be strutting in after a win while Seligman will be coming in after a loss.

Ash Fork is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mayer 64-23 on Friday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 24 point advantage.

Ash Fork found their leader in freshman Isabella Acosta, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 steals. Acosta is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Crystal Nixon, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 14 points.

Ash Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Seligman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 92-10 loss at the hands of Joseph City. While losing is never fun, the Antelopes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Wildcats are ranked 53rd).

Ash Fork's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Seligman, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything came up roses for Ash Fork against Seligman in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-12 win. In that contest, Ash Fork amassed a halftime lead of 27-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
