Baseball Recap: Bogue Chitto Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Bogue Chitto hadn't done well against Loyd Star recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Bogue Chitto came out on top against Loyd Star by a score of 8-5. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 6-0 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Tripp McCaffrey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. McCaffrey was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Landon Wright was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tucker Kyzar, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Bogue Chitto's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. As for Loyd Star, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Bogue Chitto will have a chance to go back-to-back against Loyd Star: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
