Softball Game Preview: Gladstone Gladiators vs. North Marion Huskies

The Gladstone Gladiators will head out on the road to take on the North Marion Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gladstone was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Stayton 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gladiators have posted since May 8, 2024.

Ashlynne Franssen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 19 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than 15 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabriella Gunderson, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Brooke Marshall also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, North Marion got the win against Tillamook on Friday by a conclusive 23-17.

North Marion now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gladstone, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Gladstone beat North Marion 6-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Gladiators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
