Basketball Recap: Riverdale Takes a Loss

Riverdale had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it ten. They fell 60-55 to the Lovejoy Wildcats. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 51-47 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lovejoy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Lovejoy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Javion Barkley, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 16 points. Malachii Ford was another key player, going 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points.

Riverdale and Lovejoy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Raiders see the court they'll take on LaGrange at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Lovejoy, their break will end when they face Hiram at 11:30 a.m. on the 29th.
