Football Recap: Emma Cox Leads Aliso Niguel's Defense on Tuesday

Aliso Niguel's offense rose to the challenge against a Lancers defense that boasted an average of only 10.29 points allowed on Tuesday. The Wolverines blew past the Sunny Hills Lancers 33-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.

Aliso Niguel's defense made their presence known, laying out Solaio Arredondo. three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Emma Cox. She also made six total tackles, which is notable because Aliso Niguel is 5-2 when she posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.

The win made it two in a row for Aliso Niguel and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games. As for Sunny Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Aliso Niguel is set to face off against their familiar foe Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wolverines 14.1, the Comanches 4.3) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Sunny Hills will challenge rival Beckman at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
