While East Nicolaus's victory against Colusa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the RedHawks 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since May 7, 2024.

Stevie Knight made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Kim, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

East Nicolaus' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Colusa, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 16-6.

East Nicolaus will have a chance to go back-to-back against the RedHawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
