Volleyball Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater entered their game against Mater Dei Catholic on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Red Devils fell 3-1 to the Crusaders. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Sweetwater started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-20.

Jaeden Brown paced Sweetwater's offense, picking up 14 kills. Brown got some help from Sergio Salazar and his 34 assists. Kalvin Arcedera controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Sweetwater's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 28-11. As for Mater Dei Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 23 of their last 26 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Sweetwater nor Mater Dei Catholic have any future games scheduled.
