Basketball Game Preview: Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights vs. Chaska Hawks

Benilde-St. Margaret and Chaska are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights will square off against the Chaska Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Benilde-St. Margaret's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Alexandria, who was ranked 20th at the time (Benilde-St. Margaret's was ranked first). Benilde-St. Margaret's fell just short of Alexandria by a score of 83-80 on Saturday. The Red Knights' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Chaska sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 80-78 win over St. Louis Park on Friday.

Chaska pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Benilde-St. Margaret's, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.

Benilde-St. Margaret's came up short against Chaska in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 81-75. Can Benilde-St. Margaret's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
