Softball Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Erie Tigers        
        
		
             The Fairview Knights will head out on the road to  take on  the Erie Tigers  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Fairview is no doubt hoping to put an end to  a five-game streak of away losses.
 Fairview lost  17-7 to Wheat Ridge on Saturday.
  Julia Savage was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 3-for-3 with a  home run, four  RBI, and two  doubles. What's more,  she also racked up three  hits, the mostshe's  had since back in August.  Olivia Soto was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
 Meanwhile, Erie had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They walked away with  a   7-4  win over the Mavericks. Seven seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the  team scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
  Sophee Horovitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven  innings set a new season-high mark for her.
 At the plate,  Sydnie Snook was a standout: she scored a  run and  stole a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lyric DeLozier, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4.
 Erie  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mead struck out seven times.
 Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Erie, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
 Tuesday's   match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fairview has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of 0. However, it's not like Erie struggles in that department as   they've  averaged 0. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Fairview might still be hurting after the  17-0 loss they got from Erie  when the teams last played  back in August of 2023. Can Fairview avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
