Softball Game Preview: Beverly Panthers vs. Tyngsborough Tigers

Beverly is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Tyngsborough is on a six-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Beverly beats Tyngsborough with eight runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against Masconomet Regional on Friday, sneaking past 8-6. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won eight in a row.

Tyngsborough never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Clinton last Wednesday. They blew past the Gaels 16-1.

Kiley Hogan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Hogan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Tyngsborough got a massive performance out of Katie O'Keefe, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Kristin Deschenes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Tyngsborough always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clinton only posted an OBP of .136.

Beverly's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Tyngsborough, they now have a winning record of 1-0-1.
