Baseball Game Preview: Palmyra Cougars vs. Gettysburg Warriors

The Palmyra Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Gettysburg Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Palmyra is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

It was a proper cat-fight when Palmyra challenged Central Dauphin East on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Max Woodley looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Joey White was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Aiden Willard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Palmyra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Dauphin East only posted a batting average of .200.

Meanwhile, Gettysburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Bishop McDevitt on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-4. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Gettysburg's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Palmyra, their record now sits at 9-0.

Palmyra came out on top in a nail-biter against Gettysburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
