Softball Recap: James Monroe Takes a Loss

James Monroe had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it seven. They lost 18-5 to the Midland Trail Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 back in April.

As for Midland Trail, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Midland Trail's part, Jessi Mooney was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyndal Parsons, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, James Monroe will be playing at home against Greenbrier East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Midland Trail, they will head out to face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
