Cary Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Durham Academy since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Chargers will face off against the Cavaliers at 4:15 p.m. Cary Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Durham Academy likes a good challenge.
Cary Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Thursday. They blew past Thales Academy Apex 17-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Mirella DiGiulio made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She also tossed four walks, marking her first of the season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anika Kadumpalli, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Shaughnessy, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Cary Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Durham Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Charlotte Country Day School, falling 21-14.
Cassie Stallone was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Matelon Barber, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Durham Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cary Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .544. However, it's not like Durham Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .587. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cary Academy took their win against Durham Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
