Basketball Recap: Hope Academy Comes Up Short

Hope Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Florida Educational Institute Fighting Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Trojan Tigers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Fighting Eagles are ranked 461st).

Several Trojan Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dwayne Foreman III, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 24 points and three steals. Foreman III's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Rapael, who posted 12 points and four steals.

Hope Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for North Florida Educational Institute, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hope Academy will square off against Southland Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Southland Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for North Florida Educational Institute, they will take on San Jose Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. North Florida Educational Institute is facing San Jose Prep at the right time seeing as San Jose Prep is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
