Baseball Game Preview: St. Aloysius Flashes vs. Copiah Academy Colonels

For the second straight game, St. Aloysius will face off against Copiah Academy. The Flashes will square off against the Colonels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Aloysius has four straight wins, Copiah Academy has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

St. Aloysius took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Copiah Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flashes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Colonels on Tuesday.

Walt Andrews made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Keller Bradley was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of St. Aloysius' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

St. Aloysius pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Copiah Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
