Baseball Recap: Goldsboro Starts Season with Loss at Home

Goldsboro unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Arendell Parrott Academy Patriots on Wednesday, falling 21-4. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Goldsboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in hits (four).

While Goldsboro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
