Gray's Creek waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Hoke County Bucks get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Hannah Welsh's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Gray's Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amber Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Miller has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hoke County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gray's Creek will host Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
