Basketball Recap: River Forest's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Wheeler came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against River Forest, but D?Yanna Hurn wouldn't allow it. The River Forest Ingots walked away with a 48-40 win over the Wheeler Bearcats on Friday thanks in part to Hurn, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of River Forest's points.

Wheeler lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ava Lukawski, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabela Schumacher, who posted seven points in addition to 13 rebounds and five steals.

River Forest moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Wheeler, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

River Forest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-55 win against Illiana Christian on the 9th. As for Wheeler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-20 victory against Victory Christian Academy on the 12th.
