Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Buffalos vs. Riverton Wolverines

Mountain View is 0-5 against Riverton since January of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 1:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Saturday, Mountain View lost to Cokeville on the road by a 52-35 margin.

Meanwhile, Riverton came up short against East on Saturday and fell 71-61. The Wolverines have struggled against the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Mountain View will need focus on slowing down Branden Monroe, one of several Riverton players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Riverton, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Mountain View took a serious blow against Riverton in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 60-29. Thankfully for Mountain View, Darrick Devries (who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
