Basketball Game Preview: Sehome Mariners vs. Oak Harbor Wildcats

Sehome is 4-0 against Oak Harbor since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sehome Mariners will head out to square off against the Oak Harbor Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Sehome didn't have quite enough to beat Nooksack Valley and fell 59-57. The Mariners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Oak Harbor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 71-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellingham. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Bayhawks are ranked 129th).

Oak Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Sehome, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Sehome was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Harbor when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 67-57. Will Sehome repeat their success, or does Oak Harbor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
