Basketball Recap: Superior Comes Up Short

Superior was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They took a hard 61-46 fall against the Diller-Odell Griffin. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly 15 points.

Despite the loss, Superior still got an impressive performance from Colten Butler, who posted 11 points along with six boards and three steals. Butler has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Dayne Clark was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Superior smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Diller-Odell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Zaboktrsky, who scored ten points. Zaboktrsky is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Cooper Morgan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Superior's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Diller-Odell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Superior Wildcats challenge the Sandy Creek Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Diller-Odell has already played their next game (against Southern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
