Baseball Recap: Centennial Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Centennial extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 7-5-1. Everything went their way against the Reedley Pirates as they made off with a 12-2 victory. With that win, the Golden Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Centennial gave Kellan Weaver the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Weaver has become a key player for the Golden Hawks: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Centennial let Zach Taylor and Tanner Parsons run wild. Taylor went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Parsons went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Parsons is becoming a predictor of Centennial's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 2-3-1 when he doesn't). Preston Shults was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

As for Reedley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Reedley's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Centennial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 loss against Fresno on the 31st. As for Reedley, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-2 victory against Sunnyside on the 1st.
