Baseball Recap: Tradition Prep Has No Trouble Against Westwood

Tradition Prep barely beat Westwood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.

Tyler Hagan looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Zayden Hernandez and Jack Greene did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Greene scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Tradition Prep is undefeated when Greene posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Daniel Almonte, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Tradition Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Tradition Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Westwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
