Shelby hasn't had much luck against Bellevue recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Whippets are taking a road trip to take on the Redmen at 5:00 p.m. Shelby is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Shelby lost 7-1 to Clear Fork on Wednesday.

Shelby saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Kennard, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bellevue had just enough and edged out Perkins 4-2 on Friday.

Mallory Hay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Payton Hicks, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Shelby's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Bellevue, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

Bellevue's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shelby has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Bellevue, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Shelby's sizable advantage in that area, the Redmen will need to find a way to close that gap.
